Profile
Jason Lao is a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group in the Orange County office. He focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation, with an emphasis on patents and licensing matters. He has represented clients across various industries, including biotech, semiconductor, wireless communications, smart meters, standards patents, trusted computing, digital rights management, satellite technology, virtual machines, and cybersecurity.
Jason has been part of numerous trial teams on both the plaintiff and defense side. In addition to his trial experience, he has extensive experience in all phases of pre-trial litigation including pre-suit investigations, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, motion practice, and final pre-trial preparations.
Before law school, Jason served as a senior member of the Computer Incident Response Team for Ford Motor Company where he worked in network security and software vulnerability analysis.
Jason also maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented clients on matters concerning civil actions for the deprivation of rights (1983 suit), immigration, and contract disputes. He regularly attends the Federal Pro Se Clinic to advise pro se litigants.
