Profile
John Spangler has more than 35 years of experience as a construction attorney representing owners, contractors and design professionals in the negotiating and drafting of design and construction contracts and in handling real estate, construction, municipal bond, developer and joint venture disputes. John has handled large-dollar mediations, arbitrations and civil trials all across the country for clients in a wide variety of industries, including energy, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, multifamily, industrial, manufacturing, retail, sport venues and education. He has extensive experience handling delay, interference and disruption claims, acceleration claims, extended overhead claims, defective construction and defective design claims, water intrusion claims, bid and procurement protests and government contracting disputes. On the transactional side, John has extensive experience with teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, design-build, general construction and construction management contracts, architectural and engineering agreements, and program and project management agreements.
John is a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers, a national organization of lawyers dedicated to excellence in the practice of construction law who have demonstrated high skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct. John is also recognized as a leading lawyer for Construction and Dispute Resolution in Chambers USA and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2004. He also was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Atlanta for Construction Law in Best Lawyers in 2016.
