Profile

Laurent Schmidt is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Department of Walder Wyss in Geneva. He also advises Swiss and foreign clients in corporate law, as well as in banking and financial market law. He specializes in advising companies on mergers, acquisitions and private equity transactions.

In 2012, Laurent Schmidt obtained his law degree (MLaw, bilingual French/German) from the University of Fribourg. He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in February 2015, ranking first of his class. Before joining Walder Wyss in March 2016, he worked as an associate for another business law firm based in Geneva, where he had previously completed his attorney traineeship. Prior to that, Laurent Schmidt was an intern at the Swiss Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, as well as at a major pharmaceutical company in Basel. Between May 2020 and June 2023, Laurent Schmidt acted as inhouse senior legal advisor in the legal department of a renowned Swiss private banking group headquartered in Geneva.

Laurent Schmidt works in French, German and English, and has fair knowledge of Italian. He is registered with the Geneva bar and is admitted to practice in all Switzerland.
