Luis has practiced law for 15 years, specializing in Private Equity & Venture Capital as well as Banking & Finance. The influential international legal publication Chambers and Partners has cited him as “Up & Coming” for his assistance to local and transnational companies on legal and business issues. In Banking & Finance, Luis advises major banks and other financial institutions on loans and financing. In Project Finance, he guides lenders and borrowers in the development of projects in Costa Rica, primarily in connection with energy generation and real estate development. Luis joined BLP as an Associate in 2008 after practicing law at Gómez & Galindo for two years, during which he served as Legal Counsel to the Costa Rican Banking Association. His prior professional engagements include Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Aida Faingezicht Waisleder, advisor to Congressman Luis Fishman Zonzinksi, Deputy lawyer for the United Nations Development Programme, and Director of the Postgraduate Studies Center of the Universidad Latina of Costa Rica. In 2016, Luis was named a Partner at BLP. Luis graduated with honors from the School of Law of the Universidad de Costa Rica in 1997, and received a master’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing from TEC of Costa Rica in 2002. He has participated in seminars organized by major financial institutions such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Latin American Banking Federation, the Chamber of International Commerce, and the Costa Rican Chamber of Banks and Financial Institutions. Luis has been a member of the Banking Committee of the Chamber of International Commerce, Costa Rica Chapter since 2012, as well as a member of the Banking Law Committee of the Costa Rican Bar Association since 2014. Luis is based in San José, Costa Rica.
