I have significant Victorian and Federal procedural experience having acted for various Victorian and interstate clients in various Tribunals and Courts in Victoria and at the Federal level in a wide range of litigated claims and inquiries, including WorkCover and TAC personal injury actions, VWA recoveries, public liability, institutional abuse, judicial review applications, Coronial investigations and inquests and discrimination claims.

I strive to deliver effective and good value legal services to my clients which are tailored to their goals and needs. I work closely with clients to understand their drivers in order to assist me provide pragmatic strategic advice on matter management and resolution.

I am known for my forensic and analytical skills as well as substantial experience in witness preparation and management.

Since 2018, I have managed a large portfolio of institutional abuse and other sensitive claims. I understand the importance of a flexible, trauma-informed approach to managing sensitive litigation and adopt this across my practice. ?I pride myself on my capability to provide nuanced, strategic advice to manage the complexities that come with managing sensitive claims and strive to achieve fair and balanced outcomes in my work.

Career highlights

Victorian Department of Education: Advising and acting in a variety of sensitive claims, including institutional child abuse, child on child assaults, bullying and discrimination.

Acting for the State of Victoria in various litigated actions including Perez v Reynolds and Kaplan v State of Victoria.

Government Departments and Agencies (Victorian and interstate):

  • Acting and advisory work in a range of coronial investigations, inquests and complaints/actions brought under discrimination and human rights legislation.
  • Management of sensitive personal injury and false imprisonment claims brought by self-represented litigants.
  • Assisting a government department with witness management and preparation in the Hotel Quarantine Inquiry.
  • Acting on behalf a number of independent religious and charitable organisations and education institutions in institutional abuse personal injury claims.
  • Advisory work on the National Redress Scheme and obligations under the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Act 2018 in relation to the management of protected information.
