Mark J. Harty is a Senior Counsel at LCS & PARTNERS and a former Chairman of WSG. His practice focuses on the following areas: mergers and acquisitions; syndicated lending, project finance and other bank finance; insurance; private equity; derivatives and structured finance; capital markets; foreign direct investment; and debt restructuring. Mr. Harty worked with Shearman & Sterling for approximately 19 years in New York, Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing and Tokyo, and has extensive experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional matters. Mr. Harty has lived and worked in Asia for over 21 years. Mr. Harty is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Harvard College. Mr. Harty is licensed in New York and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. His experience includes representing: Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Silver Lake Partners in connection with the US$2.6 billion acquisition of the semiconductor product business of Agilent Technologies Inc.; creditors of Asia Pulp & Paper in the restructuring of approximately US$6 billion of debt; BASF, Sinopec and the Project company in connection with the financing of an integrated petrochemical facility in China; China Development Bank in connection with financing for the Three Gorges Dam, the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant and other projects in China; and the Project company in connection with the development, construction and financing of a 1200 MW gas-fired power plant in Ilijan, the Philippines.
