His patent prosecution experience in the materials realm encompasses glasses, metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, specialty chemicals, biomaterials, catalysts, and pharmaceuticals. His experience further extends to additive manufacturing, glass processing, polymerization processes, analytical chemistry, oil and gas recovery, petroleum refining, and mineral extraction and processing. He also prepares and prosecutes patent applications directed to glass products, polymer films, consumer products, medical devices, fiber optic and photonic devices, welding equipment, radiation detectors, and materials characterization systems.
Michael counsels a broad range of clients including individual inventors, startup companies, large corporations, and universities. He works closely with inventors along with in-house and foreign counsel to obtain a thorough understanding of the inventive subject matter and related art, as well as how the procurement of patent rights fits within an overall business strategy.
