Profile

Michal is an associate in the firm’s capital finance and real estate team.

Her practice focuses on representing owners, developers and financial institutions in various single and multi-property commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, real estate finance and development, due diligence, and corporate formations. Her experience includes a wide variety of real estate asset classes, such as office parks and buildings, hotels, shopping centers and multi-family apartment complexes.

Michal previously worked for a nationally recognized title agency where she closed single and multi-property commercial real estate transactions. She also worked for a real estate developer where she negotiated leases, license agreements and purchase and sale agreements.

Michal’s pro bono activities include working with the City Bar Justice Center in the representation of undocumented immigrant domestic abuse victims in U visa petitions.

An accomplished scholar, Michal received the Philip Kravitz Memorial Prize (for graduating with highest academic average as part time student) and was a Saul Tischler Scholar and a Nathan N. Schildkraut Scholar. She was also on the Rutgers Moot Court Board and Rutgers Regional Appellate Advocacy team where she competed in the New York Bar Association National Moot Court Competition.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented Savanna in the purchase of 521 Fifth Avenue, a 39-story office tower in Midtown Manhattan, one block from Grand Central Terminal.
  • Represented Nahla Capital in its $260 million sale of 30 rental apartment buildings, all located in San Francisco, California. The sale also included a reinvestment by the sellers of a portion of the sale proceeds in the purchasing joint venture at closing.
  • Represented a non-institutional lender in connection with a $68.075 million construction loan for the development of a student housing in Orlando, Florida.
  • Represented an institutional lender in connection with a $42 million loan secured by a warehouse in Massachusetts.
  • Represented an institutional lender in connection with a $45 million loan secured by a large shopping center in Washington.
  • Represented Savanna in connection with a $176 million traditional and mezzanine financing of 525 West 122nd Street in Morningside Heights, Manhattan to renovate and develop the property into a 250,000 square foot condominium building.
  • Represented a real estate investment firm in connection with the purchase of a $26.4 million defaulted mortgage loan secured by a single tenant industrial property located in Independence, Ohio.
  • Represented Savanna in its $126 million purchase of a 12-story office building, with ground-floor retail, located in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan. Savanna plans to transform the property by undertaking strategic renovations and repositioning the ground-floor retail. 
  • Represented DTH Capital Inc. in connection with the sale of 63 and 67 Wall Street. The properties represent two of the largest Wall Street residential conversions in history, comprise an entire block of Downtown Manhattan and consist of over 800 residential rental apartments.
  • Represented a REIT in the sale of a Manhattan hotel.
  • Represented Emmes Asset Management in connection with a loan secured by multiple properties.
