Minjae is one of few lawyers in the Southeastern United States who has a law degree from both Korea and the US and has legal experience in both jurisdictions.

Minjae Song is an associate in the Atlanta office who advises clients on all aspects of labor and employment law, from the drafting of agreements and handbooks, to advice on compliance with wage and hour regulations, OSHA and the FMLA. Minjae regularly conducts management training for clients, and represents their interests in court and before the US Department of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where he previously clerked.

Minjae is uniquely situated to advise foreign-based companies in the US. Prior to earning his law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Minjae earned a law degree from Korea University and worked for more than five years as in-house counsel for Korean Air Lines, Co. Ltd. in Seoul, South Korea. He also served on the labor relations team for an American company in Korea, negotiating collective bargaining agreements with Korean labor unions and recommending solutions to the Asia and US-based headquarters.

While in South Korea, Minjae was awarded the Army Commendation Medal by the US Army for enhancing friendship between the military of South Korea and the United States.

Relevant Experience

• Obtained no-cause determinations from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and successful outcomes in citation and other hearings before the US Department of Labor.
• Coordinated defense of companies in non-compete and other employment litigation.
• Represented foreign-based corporations in new US investment projects, including all aspects of site selection, negotiation of state and local incentives, purchase of real estate, and project finance.
