Profile
Orlando Cardoza is a partner at BLP in the Nicaragua office. He specializes in Intellectual Property and Health Product Registrations. With more than 20 years of experience, he manages trademark and patent portfolios, as well as copyright, advertising, and anti-counterfeiting matters for clients from various industries. He coordinates trademark registration and enforcement strategies in Nicaragua and abroad. He is an expert in regulatory law and health registrations, guaranteeing regulatory compliance for clients. He has been an active member of INTA since 2008. He was in charge of the Latin American Committee of the UNREAL campaign during the period 2021-2023, and is currently a member of the Famous and Well Known Marks Committee. He joined BLP in 2015 and was appointed partner in 2021.

BLP advised QUALA in Trademarks in Central America. BLP advised on publicity campaign agreements and image use license of a new drink. Also, BLP continues to be in charge of the entire trademark portfolio of QUALA trademarks in the Central America region including Panama, as well as its judicial processes related to the defense of its IP rights and the health registrations of food and personal hygiene products marketed in Central America.
UNILEVER’s sanitary registrations in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Costa Rica. BLP is in charge of providing timely assistance in the procurement of all of UNILEVER’s sanitary registrations.
BLP advised Grupo Pisa, a leading pharmaceutical company in Latin America. BLP has been assisting the laboratory with their leading product, Electrolit, in all regulatory matters related to this product, particularly timely maintenance of their health registration and possible reclassification from an OTC product to a beverage.
Management and protection of Concha y Toro’s brand portfolio in Nicaragua. The BLP team has the distinguished responsibility of safeguarding and strengthening Concha y Toro’s valuable portfolio of trademarks through dedicated attention to detail that enables their timely renewal and immediate action against any attempted registration or use of similar brands by those who would like to take advantage of the client’s valuable prestige.
