Profile
As a member of the financial institutions corporate and regulatory practice, Patrick assists banks and non-bank financial technology companies with a wide range of legal and regulatory matters related to banking and other financial products and services. He specializes in advising clients on developing innovative financial products and services, including navigating various legal and regulatory matters related to digital banking, fintech, payments, virtual currency, and digital assets.
Prior to joining the firm, Patrick served as in-house counsel at a large bank where he focused on digital banking, fintech, and payments.
Patrick is a contributing author to the Blockchain Legal Resource blog.
Relevant Experience
- Regularly counsels clients on compliance with federal and state law applicable to digital payments and virtual currencies, including state and federal money transmission laws and licensing regimes, Regulation E, and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Provides legal advice for innovative digital financial products, including cryptocurrency products and related payment solutions.
- Assists financial institutions with establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships for financial technology products and services.
- Counsels clients on the establishment of comprehensive risk management and compliance programs in accordance with the Bank Secrecy Act and related state and federal regulations.
- Advises banking and financial services clients regarding digital banking, payment, and treasury management services.
- Represents lenders in the origination, purchase, sale, and servicing of loans originated through fintech partnerships.
