His experience includes the representation of lenders, purchasers, sellers, investment limited partners, landlords, tenants and developers in complex, nationwide transactions.
Payne drafts documentation in connection with secured and unsecured lending in his representation of financial institutions, lenders and special servicers on matters involving origination and securitization. He also drafts documentation in connection with secondary market lending transactions. Payne’s acquisitions and dispositions work focuses on drafting closing documents, due diligence and other title, survey, zoning and land use matters. Payne also represents landlords and tenants in connection with leasing matters for office, retail, and mixed-used projects.
Payne also maintains an active pro bono practice, including participation in the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program with events such as monthly intake clinics, the Housing Crisis Center clinics and the annual Wills Clinic. Additionally, he advises local non-profit educational organizations on a variety of legal matters.
