Randy practices corporate and commercial law in the energy industry, with a primary emphasis on oil and gas asset acquisition and divestiture transactions. His clients include senior, mid‑size and junior public and private oil and gas companies.
Randy has participated in, organized and supervised hundreds of transactions of all sizes, both in terms of due diligence review and conveyancing projects. His expertise in this area allows him to assist his clients in determining what services are required or appropriate in each situation, resulting in practical, cost-effective solutions. He has a loyal following of clients, some of whom he has been providing services to for over 20 years.
Randy's transaction services include the negotiation and drafting of purchase and sale agreements and ancillary documentation, conducting corporate and asset due diligence and title review, provision of title opinions and title deficiency notices, rectification of title issues and providing advice and documentation in respect of rights of first refusal.
Randy also provides freehold pre‑drilling opinions, and reviews, and interprets and provides advice in respect of various types of earning, pooling and royalty agreements as well as providing advice in respect of operational issues.
Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Randy practiced with a large and a mid‑size Calgary firm before co-founding EnerLaw LLP in 2006, a Calgary-based boutique firm focusing primarily on the energy industry.
