Profile

As a member of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions team, Richard helps guide clients through difficult and complex negotiations over corporate transactions and commercial contracts. His focus is on delivering effective and practical solutions for his clients.

Richard has experience representing public and private companies in corporate matters, including domestic and international mergers, stock and asset acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, private equity investments, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, corporate restructurings and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Hunton, Richard practiced at a law firm in Washington, DC where, in addition to transactional work, he advised clients on international trade and other regulatory matters.

On a pro bono basis, Richard represents individuals seeking to be appointed as guardians of their incapacitated relatives.

Richard currently serves as Chair of the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee in Central Virginia and is an active member of the Princeton Association of Virginia.

  • Regularly represents a publicly traded Fortune 500 global auto parts manufacturer in connection with domestic, international and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic transactions.
  • Regularly represents a public insurance company in acquisitions of businesses, including follow-on acquisitions and on-going corporate governance matters.
  • Regularly represents a global food and meat-processing company in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic transactions and commercial agreements.
  • Represented a Fortune 200 consumer packaged goods company in a complex joint venture with a Swiss company to market and sell products in the US and Canada.
  • Represented publicly traded vehicle and industrial paint and coating manufacturer in sale of non-core technology assets and acquisition of liquid and powder refinish coating manufacturer and distributor.
  • Represented a multinational management consulting and technology service company in its merger with a government IT service provider.
  • Represented a venture capital firm in its Series A investment in a restaurant business.
  • Represented numerous public companies in connection with corporate venture capital investments.
