Significant Accomplishments
Laboratorios Saval’s entry into the pharmaceutical market in Costa Rica. BLP advised Saval throughout the acquisition process of Laboratorios Stein’s operations in Costa Rica, including the performance of due diligence, the structuring of the transaction, the negotiation of the purchase agreement and ancillary contracts, as well as in the entry of Saval to the Costa Rican market through the obtention of the applicable permits and the hiring of 170 employees.
AkzoNobel Completes Grupo Orbis Acquisition. BLP advised the seller, Grupo Orbis (Pintuco), on this regionally impactful transaction employing attorneys from each of our offices in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala, as well as coordinating with lawyers in Panama, and conducting due diligence in the jurisdictions of Central America.   
First acquisition of Culligan Water in Central America. BLP represented Culligan Water in the acquisition of a controlling interest in Más Pura, a water purifying company with offices in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá, Perú and Chile. 
Joby Aviation acquires Avionyx. Joby Aviation has announced the acquisition of Avionyx, a Costa Rica-based aerospace software engineering company, to support its aircraft type certification program with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). BLP advised its client Joby Aviation on all aspects of the transaction. 
BLP advises Baxter on its spinoff of renal care Vantive. BLP assisted in obtaining operational permits and regulatory authorizations required for Vantive’s operation under special regimes in Costa Rica. Additionally, BLP provided advice on real estate, labor, intellectual property, and data privacy matters.
