Mr. Lan focuses his practice on advising clients on cross-border M&A transactions and investment. He is particularly experienced in counseling Chinese companies in connection with their outbound investments across a wide spectrum of industry sectors, including oil and gas, minerals, and infrastructure. In his 20 years of practice, Mr. Lan has participated as lead counsel in numerous such global transactions, including many of the largest and most complex outbound investments ever undertaken by Chinese companies, the aggregate value of which is in the tens of billions of U.S. dollars. He is also experienced in representing foreign investors in their acquisition and divestiture of China operations. Before joining Han Kun, Mr. Lan was a partner at leading international law firms for over 12 years; he was also a partner at another leading Chinese law firm for two years.
