Thelma has over 7 years working in the legal field. She specializes in the Dispute Resolution area. She stands out in civil, commercial and criminal litigation. In addition, she stands out for her work in national and international arbitration. When it comes to Dispute Resolution, she has extensive experience handling judicial and arbitration proceedings in civil, and commercial and criminal matters. In addition, Thelma has experience in disputes between foreign firms and their agents or vendors, contractual liability and torts, construction litigation cases, real estate, telecommunications, agricultural-environmental matters, economic crimes and intellectual property infringements. She joined BLP as an associate in 2012. Thelma graduated Summa Cum Laude in Law from Universidad de Costa Rica in 2012, with a specialization in Technology, E-Commerce and Telecommunications. She has a postgraduate degree from Universidad de Valencia in Local and International Arbitration since 2014 and a specialization from Universidad La Salle in Notary and Registration Law since 2016. Furthermore, she is currently studying a Master’s degree program in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law from the United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD) along with other international organizations. In 2009, Thelma won the Rubén Darío Academic Excellence award conferred by the Central American University Superior Council to the best grade scores in public universities in Central America. She was also recognized as best grade score of the Social Sciences department and of the Faculty of Law of Universidad de Costa Rica. She currently lives in San José, Costa Rica.
