Profile
Scott is an AV-rated attorney with over 50 years of experience. His law practice has been diverse, with much of it involving the resolution of disputes arising out of a wide variety of factual backgrounds. After practicing with Rush Marshall for 22 years, he joined Mateer & Harbert in 1993. As a shareholder with Mateer & Harbert, he served for six-and-a-half years as City Attorney for the City of Orlando, directing and overseeing its staff of 19 in-house attorneys. Much of his time was spent attempting to achieve amicable resolutions of issues which arose between the City and other government agencies, the City's labor unions, and various other entities. Mayors of both Orange County and the City of Orlando have appointed him to chair various task forces and committees.
During the last 25 years, Scott's practice has included attempting to resolve various issues which have arisen within a hospital environment, including contractual disputes, tort claims, statutory claims, and billing disputes with payors. He has worked on peer review matters for Orlando Regional Medical Center, Health Central, Wuesthoff Memorial Hospital and Parrish Medical Center. Where necessary to achieve resolution, he has been involved in proceedings under that hospital's fair hearing procedures. Where subsequent litigation has challenged the fairness of the peer review process, Scott has successfully defended that process.
