Mr. Cao had spent more than eight years practising law with the China office of a U.K. based international firm before he joined Han Kun Law Offices. Mr. Cao is specialised in the legal services regarding mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, foreign direct investment, and general corporate matters. Mr. Cao has accumulated extensive experience in dealing with legal as well as commercial issues relating to various types of business activities.
Mr. Cao has represented and provided legal services to numerous multinational companies, leading Chinese companies, venture capital funds, and private equity funds in relation to their investment projects in the PRC. The matters handled by Mr. Cao mainly include Chinese and foreign investors' acquisitions of assets or equity interests of Chinese companies, establishment of various types of foreign-invested enterprises, investments of Chinese and overseas venture capital funds and private equity funds in Chinese enterprises, venture financing and securities offerings of Chinese high-tech companies, restructuring and alignment of different businesses of Chinese and foreign investors in China, applications for government approvals required for foreign investment related projects, research and analysis of regulation and policy changes, legal assistance to clients with their strategic planning, and advice on the operational matters of foreign-invested enterprises. The businesses of the clients represented by Mr. Cao cover a wide variety of industry sectors including finance, funds, industrial product manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, retail, transportation, TMT, and entertainment.

Mr. Cao graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree. He also received an LL.M. Degree from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, and an LL.M. Degree from Columbia Law School.
