In this report, you will find a summary of two important resolutions published in the Official Gazette.
Resolution No. 191/2020
Today, Resolution No. 191/2020 of the National Institute of Industrial Property was published in the Official Gazette, by means of which it was established that all communication deadlines made by the National Patent Administration and published in the Patents Bulletin will begin to run as from thirty (30) calendar days from said publication.
Likewise, it was established that the aforementioned thirty (30) day term will also be applicable to notifications made during the period in which the terms were suspended, which took effect as of March 12, 2020.
Resolution No. 194/2020
Yesterday, Resolution No. 194/2020 of the National Institute of Industrial Property ("INPI") was published in the Official Gazette, providing that the course of the terms in those proceedings before the INPI that were suspended by INPI Resolution No. 16/20 and its successive extensions are resumed as from December 14th, 2020 (the "Resolution").
Additionally, the Resolution establishes that all the procedures before the INPI must be carried out through the online platform, and the granting of appointments will be limited to those procedures for which there is no remote service available.
