Heuking advises FarmInsect GmbH on Series A funding round

 

A team led by Alexander Weber, Heuking Partner at the Munich office, legally advised FarmInsect GmbH on its Series A funding round.

 

The oversubscribed funding round of EUR 8 million was led by Oslo-based impact fund Sandwater, alongside Bayern Kapital’s Growth fund; further investors included the Minderoo Foundation’s Strategic Impact Fund (Australia) and the European Innovation Council Fund. Existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds HTGF and UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators as well as various business angels also participated.

 

Founded in 2020, FarmInsect GmbH is an insect technology company headquartered in Munich. It was a member of the founding cohort of Munich Technical University’s Food, Agro & Biotech (FAB) Venture Lab.

 

FarmInsect provides a modularized end-to-end solution for decentralized on-site insect larvae production and has developed industry-leading breeding practices and genetic strains with enhanced adaptability to local feedstocks. FarmInsect customers are to benefit from considerable savings on feed costs, more circular use of organic waste streams, and additional revenue sources from fertilizer, biogas, and the sale of larvae to third-party processors.

 

Heuking has advised FarmInsect GmbH since its establishment on various legal matters and in the field of Venture Capital on several funding rounds.
