Shoosmiths Celebrates 10 Years of Free Training for In House Lawyers

September, 2019 - Milton Keynes, England

UK law firm Shoosmiths is marking ten years since the launch of its highly successful regional series of free training events, designed for local employers’ in house legal (IHL) teams.

The events cover a mix of technical and soft-skills training, and regularly attract IHLs from the region’s top businesses in and around Birmingham, Solent, Leeds, Manchester, London, Nottingham, Milton Keynes and the Thames Valley.

These popular and free breakfast training workshops deliver practical skills from experts in a concise and efficient way and provide two hours of training which satisfies the requirement for continuing competence by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

The next sessions will focus on three hot topics:

Data Protection update: recent high-publicity data breaches has made this a board-level concern, so the sessions will examine the latest developments and best practice risk management strategies
Immigration law: how specialist workers can clear the hurdles in a post-Brexit Britain
Enhancing soft skills: how team coaching can improve well-being and performance
Paula Swain, partner and head of Shoosmiths’ office in Solent said: “We work closely with our clients’ in house legal teams and have based these sessions very much on what the tell us they want from training. Equally important is the convenience of a location that anyone attending the event can easily get to on their way to work.”

Jonathan Naylor, partner and head of Shoosmiths’ office in Thames Valley said: “Over the years we’ve attracted IHLs at every level of experience, from the senior general counsel who want a brush up on a topic, to the newly-qualified lawyer who wants practical skills for their portfolio.”
