Shoosmiths Nottingham Office Celebrates 35th Anniversary in City and Plots Further Growth

Shoosmiths is celebrating its 35th year in Nottingham by setting out its ambitious new strategy to take the office to even greater success.
What began as a small office with just one partner and a PA in 1984 – covering corporate and commercial work - Shoosmiths Nottingham has grown significantly since then into a full-service office, representing major brands and high street names, such as Boots, IKANO, Nottingham City Homes, John Deere, IKEA, DHL, British Gypsum, ATS Euromaster, SC Johnson, United Carpets Group, RDC Aviation Limited, Topps Tiles, as well as several high street lenders. The office now boasts a total of 62 staff.
Clients and staff gathered at the firm’s office in Waterfront House yesterday (Thursday) to mark the anniversary.
Head of office Deborah Gordon-Brown said: “I am incredibly proud that we are celebrating this milestone in such a great city.
“Through hard-work and commitment, we have managed to grow our offering from the Nottingham office considerably since those humble beginnings in 1985. We now represent and advise some of the biggest and well-known companies and brands in the UK – on a whole host of work, all led by talented colleagues in Nottingham, and we continue to work with a number of diverse regional businesses of all sizes.
“Shoosmiths as a firm has already set out its ambitious growth strategy, and we have similar goals in Nottingham. In addition, and in line with one of our core values of building and maintaining enduring community relationships, Shoosmiths supports building and maintaining enduring community relationships by supporting a number of local charities and community projects, in particular, partnering with, among others, Ashleigh School, The Nottingham Women’s Centre, Improving Lives, while Deborah also sits on the East Midlands Advisory Board of Business in the Community.
The Shoosmiths Nottingham journey began in a converted home in Clarendon Street. The commercial and corporate offering was eventually joined by a personal injury team. The office began to see significant growth on moving to the Ropewalk, with larger offices able to host teams in employment and real estate, before another move to Lockhouse, where the office remained until its current move to the Waterfront House more than 10 years ago.
