Heuking Reinforces Business Service Units: Rahel Skau Becomes Head of Legal Tech and Digitalization

June, 2020 - Germany

Effective June 1, Rahel Skau will join Heuking and assume the position of Head of Legal Tech and Digitalization. The newly created position takes account of the increasing digitalization of legal advisory services and is intended to further increase the law firm’s innovative strength and implementation speed at the interface of advisory offerings and business processes.

Rahel Skau has many years of experience in international legal advice in the areas of legal business development and legal engineering. At Freshfields and most recently at CMS, she has worked on numerous digitalization projects and product developments of varying complexity and scope. Rahel Skau has a degree in business administration, obtained a Master of Business Administration in the USA, and is a trained Design Thinking Coach.

At Heuking, she will continue to drive forward the firm’s digitalization strategy and digital product offerings jointly with Dr. Peter Ladwig, Managing Partner for IT and Legal Tech. “Corona shows yet again the enormous potential offered by digitalization. In the future, digital services and products will set new standards more rapidly both in relation to clients and to courts, and will increasingly change and, in part, shape the legal services provided by lawyers. Alongside legal expertise, digital competence is set to become a core competence of the modern law firm. We consider this an opportunity and are currently working on numerous projects that will digitally complement and support the services we provide to our clients. Ms. Skau will be material in supporting and promoting this development,” said Peter Ladwig.

Already at the beginning of the year, the position of Knowledge Management at Heuking was filled with Ina Kamps as Head of Knowledge Management to better meet increasing demands of the market and client expectations and to further strengthen the practice groups. She is assigned to Dr. Schneider as Managing Partner for Organization and Business Processes.

Ina Kamps has been a lawyer since 2001 and previously worked as an Associate at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Düsseldorf office in Michael Schmittmann’s department in 2004/05. She subsequently held positions as Product Manager and Editor at Wolters Kluwer Germany in Cologne/Hürth until the end of 2019.

In addition to the considerable expansion in the number of legal professionals, these areas will now also further expand the range of business service units at Heuking.
