Buchalter Adds Five New Attorneys

Los Angeles, October 14, 2020 – Buchalter is pleased to announce the recent addition of five new attorneys. C. Dennis Loomis joined as a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Los Angeles. Stacey Ravetta joined in Seattle as a member of the Intellectual Property and Corporate Practice Groups. Sandy Isaac joined San Diego as a member of the Estate Planning practice. Michelle K. Meek is a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group in San Diego and Matthew T. Drenan joins San Diego as a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group.

Loomis has more than 25 years of experience representing major entertainment entities, manufacturers, consumer product companies, high-tech concerns, Internet service providers, educational institutions, trade organizations, advertisers, artists, and entrepreneurs. As both a strategic advisor and litigator concerning intellectual property matters, complex business disputes, and transactions, his litigation practice focuses primarily on intellectual property, breach of contract and business torts, with additional work involving tax, regulatory, real estate, antitrust and class action defense.

Loomis earned his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law, Order of the Coif, where he was also Note and Comment Editor for the Law Review. He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, cum laude.

Ravetta, previously with an Am Law 50 law firm and General Counsel for two international companies, has extensive knowledge of intellectual property issues. She helps clients acquire, develop, diligence, commercialize, license, sell or otherwise facilitate with any business transaction involving intellectual property. She also has significant experience with other corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, insolvency issues, and bankruptcy and workouts. Further, Ravetta was selected as one of IAM’s Magazine’s Leading IP Strategists in 2016 and 2017.

Ravetta earned her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law (with honors) where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Golden Gate University Law Review. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Montana.

Isaac has extensive experience with estate planning, probate, trust administration and conservatorships. She assists both individuals and families expertly guiding them in a variety of matters, including for-profit and not-for-profit business entity formation and bankruptcy. Currently, she is a guest on various radio shows on ESPN Radio 1700AM and KCBQ 1170AM.

Isaac earned her J. D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and her B.A. degrees in Art History and European History - Russian and Soviet from the University of California San Diego.

Meek represents employers in litigation involving claims of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, unfair competition, and misappropriation of trade secrets. She also regularly counsels employers on leaves of absence, disciplinary matters, terminations, harassment and discrimination complaints, wage and hour issues, and compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

She earned her J. D. from the University Of Southern California Gould School Of Law, and her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. “

Drenan primarily focuses his practice on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling, with a specific emphasis on the maritime, oil and gas, logistics, and transportation industries. He has experience representing employers in all aspects of state and federal employment litigation, including wage and hour class and representative actions, single plaintiff wage and hour disputes, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation. He also assists employers in drafting comprehensive employee handbooks, personnel policies, and employment-related agreements to ensure compliance with California and federal law. Further, Best Lawyers recognized Drenan on its 2021 “Ones to Watch” list.

Drenan earned his J. D. from California Western School of Law, where he made the Dean’s list, and earned his LL.M in Admiralty Law with distinction from Tulane University Law School. He earned his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, graduating on the Dean’s list.
