Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Smarter Working Team Highly Commended at Lawyer Awards 2020
Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Smarter Working team has been highly commended in the Most Innovative Use of Technology category at the Lawyer Awards 2020.
The innovation unit was recognised at the prestigious national awards for its collaboration with client Virgin Money in delivering a bespoke case management system to automate the legal aspects of refinancing under the Incentivised Switching Scheme.
The Lawyer Awards, run by The Lawyer magazine, recognise best practice and celebrate excellence across the legal industry, with a judging panel comprising 35 lawyers drawn from the Lawyer Hot 100.
Shepherd and Wedderburn’s project team comprised legal and technology experts from across its banking and finance and Smarter Working teams, namely Andrew Kinnes, Partner, banking and finance; Lynn Beaumont, Head of Knowledge and Service Delivery; James Bulpitt, Associate, banking and finance; Steve Dalgleish, Head of Technology; and John Myles, a Solutions Architect.
The team designed and delivered a case management system, tailored to Virgin Money’s specific requirements, that has been operating successfully since the launch of the Incentivised Switching Scheme in 2019.
Andrew Blain, Shepherd and Wedderburn’s Managing Partner, said: “Being highly commended in the Most Innovative Use of Technology category at the Lawyer Awards is a valued independent endorsement of our ability to deliver effective process and technology solutions to our clients, particularly when tackling complex, large scale and high profile projects. This commendation not only reflects the excellent work of our Smarter Working team but also the valued input of our client Virgin Money in making this collaborative project a success."
