PLMJ strengthens its Energy practice with a new partner

July, 2020 - Lisbon, Portugal

João Marques Mendes is PLMJ's newest partner. With more than 10 years’ experience in energy law, João’s arrival consolidates the firm's focus on this sector.

At the law firm CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut since 2009, João’s main areas of practice have been administrative law, energy law and litigation, including projects and infrastructure matters.

He has worked extensively in providing legal assistance in implementing and operating projects in the energy sector and support in resolving disputes on behalf of private entities. As a result, PLMJ's new partner will strengthen the firm's multidisciplinary team dedicated to the energy sector, which is one of the most important sectors in the Portuguese economy.

For Bruno Ferreira, PLMJ's co-managing partner: “hiring João Marques Mendes is another step in the firm's refocusing on the issues and sectors where it wants to continue to consolidate its position and grow. We want to accompany our clients in the sectors of the economy that will be the most mobilising in the coming decades. To do this, we need to further enrich the extraordinary talent we already have, in order to increase the size of our offer with the best teams and the most talented lawyers in their areas of speciality. We are building the teams of the future with the best of the present, inside and outside PLMJ”.
