The event was held on April, 4-5, in Paris. The 19th Annual U.S. and Europe Tax Practice Trends Conference focused on topical tax issues, including their impact on international corporations, and the impact of global events on the tax industry on the other hand. Panelists included industry leaders, senior government and OECD officials, and leading tax practitioners from the United States and Europe.</p> <p>Elena Novikova, an ALRUD expert, spoke at the panel “New Challenges to New Tax Developments - EU Treaty / WTO Human Rights Convention, DAC6”. The panel explored whether taxpayers can rely on certain non-tax principles deriving from constitutional rights, EU law, human rights declarations and international law and courts in defending against new measures on taxation, anti-abuse rules, information exchange and new tax investigation procedures at the multilateral and domestic levels.</p>
