Hanson Bridgett Receives Honor from the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County
March 8, 2021 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett LLP, a preeminent California law firm that provides quality legal services throughout the state and nationwide, is pleased to announce it has received the Dorothy M. Wolfe Award for providing top-tier pro bono services to those in need through the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.
This award is given in memory of one of the first women attorneys in San Mateo County, noted for her deep belief in equal access to justice. Dorothy Wolfe was an ardent supporter of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County throughout her career.
"We're exceptionally proud to receive this award. Many of us were motivated to become lawyers because of a desire to give back to the communities where we live and work, to correct injustices, and to ensure access to legal representation," said Candice Shih, Chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee. "Pro bono work is central to fulfilling that mission because it gives our attorneys the opportunity to assist individuals, organizations, and businesses that need quality legal representation, but cannot afford it. To identify those most in need, we are proud to partner with local organizations like the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County."
As the COVID-19 pandemic hit California and the state shut down in March 2020, the firm's Pro Bono Committee liaisons proactively reached out to their partner organizations in search of ways to assist the most vulnerable members of our communities during this stressful time. This outreach resulted in several new pro bono matters for the firm. Through a time that so many are enduring seemingly insurmountable hardships, the firm continues to make it a priority to help the most vulnerable members of our communities. This commitment enriches our firm as much as those clients we serve.
We endeavor to align our pro bono work with our firm's values. Our goal is to provide legal services in support of diversity, access to education, economic and social advancement, the environment, and health and social services.
