Dinsmore Real Estate Counsel Contributes to Groundbreaking of Denny Crum Hall at University of Louisville

March, 2021 - Louisville, Kentucky

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is pleased to have played a part in the recent groundbreaking of Denny Crum Hall made possible by L&N Federal Credit Union, located at the University of Louisville. The 128-bed dormitory facility is named for Louisville Cardinals Hall of Fame former men’s basketball coach Denny Crum.

Dinsmore partner Greg Compton and firm staff worked in close collaboration with university counsel and with University COO Mark Watkins in the preparation and negotiation of the build-to-suit lease and ground lease for the project.

The firm has enjoyed a long-term relationship with the University of Louisville, led by Dinsmore partner Donna Perry. This particular project, budgeted at $23.5 million, is a build-to-suit endeavor with a private contractor, Buffalo Construction, with the dormitory under construction on property owned by the university as well as the University of Louisville Real Estate Foundation. As a partner in the project, L&N Federal Credit Union provided a $2.25 million gift to the Cardinal Athletic Fund.

Coach Crum attended the groundbreaking ceremony at the property earlier this month for the project, which is projected to be available for student occupancy in the fall of 2022.
