Hanson Bridgett Partner, Kathryn Doi, Reappointed to California New Motor Vehicle Board

March 29, 2021 (San Francisco, CA) – In an announcement released Tuesday, March 23; Governor Newsom reappointed Hanson Bridgett Partner, Kathryn Doi, to serve on the California New Motor Vehicle Board. Doi, a partner in the firm's Health & Senior Care Practice, has served on the Board since 2013 when former Governor Jerry Brown initially appointed her.

The California New Motor Vehicle Board is responsible for enhancing "relations between dealers and manufacturers throughout the state by resolving disputes in the new motor vehicle industry in an efficient, fair and cost-effective manner." During her tenure, Doi has served as both Vice President in 2017-2018 and President in 2019-2020 of the Board. As President, in 2020, Doi created the New Motor Vehicle Board’s Ad Hoc Committee on Equity, Justice, and Inclusion in response to California State Transportation Agency Secretary David S. Kim’s June 12, 2020, statement on racial equity, justice, and inclusion in transportation.

"I am honored to continue to serve in this position for the State of California," Doi said. "The new motor vehicle industry is key to California’s economy, and the Board plays an important role in securing fair resolutions and accountability in motor vehicle industry disputes."

Doi has more than 20 years of experience as a litigator with extensive knowledge of the health care industry and its governing statutes, regulations, and agencies. This background seamlessly transfers to her position as the designated attorney appointment for the state's New Motor Vehicle Board.

Her reappointment is effective immediately. This position does not require Senate confirmation.
