New Tax Partner for Hamburg: Dr. Henrik Lay joins Heuking
Effective April 1, 2021, Dr. Henrik Lay (44) will join Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek as Equity Partner. The lawyer and tax advisor will reinforce the transactional, but in particular the tax law practice in Hamburg.
Henrik Lay joins Heuking from AHB (Arends Hofert Bergemann) Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater. Previously, he practiced at Watson Farley & Williams after having started his career at Latham & Watkins. Admitted as a lawyer and tax advisor, he is also a Certified Specialist Lawyer in Tax Law.
His practice focuses on corporate tax law, in particular tax advice on corporate transactions in M&A and Private Equity/Venture Capital. In addition, Lay regularly advises on real estate transactions as well as reorganizations and restructuring projects on a national and international level.
Lay is a lecturer for International Tax Law at Wedel University of Applied Sciences. He studied law in Bayreuth and Kiel.
“With Henrik Lay, we will broaden our tax law practice in Hamburg and further expand it jointly with the team led by Fabian Gaffron,” said Dr. Michael Dröge, Office Partner in Hamburg. “Mr. Lay is a peer who is an excellent personal and professional fit. We are very much looking forward to joint advisory projects,” Dröge continued.
Once Lay has joined the firm, the Hamburg office will count a total of 66 lawyers (29 Equity Partners, 19 Salaried Partners, and 18 Associates). Five Associates were admitted as Salaried Partners in the Hamburg office just recently on January 1, 2021, including Dr. Sarah Slavik-Schulz in Tax Law.
