April, 2021 - Vienna, Austria

With Patricia Backhausen and Julia Haumer-Mörzinger, DORDA is expanding its core competences in the areas of M&A/Digital Industries and Real Estate & Construction.

Vienna, 19 April 2021- By promoting two female lawyers to senior associates / attorneys at law, the Austrian law firm DORDA continues its successful path of focussing on sustainable development and continuously supporting female associates.
Patricia Backhausen (29) joined DORDA's Corporate/M&A team in 2019. She holds three university degrees and passed the Austrian bar exam in 2019 with honours. Patricia started her career in London, where she worked in international law firms for a year. Afterwards, she joined a well-known international law firm in Vienna as an associate in banking & finance. Since 2019, she has focussed on technology-related M&A transactions, as part of DORDA's Corporate/M&A team. As Co-Head of DORDA’s Digital Industries Group, she advises, amongst others, innovative tech start-ups, as well as global players on the establishment of joint ventures in the technology sector (e.g. development of a software platform, acquisition of a large app-based customer network). Patricia also advises on cross-border research cooperations in the technology sector.

"With Patricia Backhausen, we have gained an extraordinarily talented and competent attorney at law," said Martin Brodey, Managing Partner and Head of the M&A Practice Group at DORDA. "Especially in the field of M&A, the Digital Industries Sector is experiencing a significant rise. Given her expertise in the transactional area, we are very pleased that she will continue advising our clients as an attorney at law from now on."

Julia Haumer-Mörzinger (32) combines legal expertise with profound technical knowledge, which she was able to acquire due to her technical education at the HTBL Krems in the field of structural engineering. In addition, as an engineer, Julia has construction knowledge, which she has been able to successfully implement in various legal issues of real estate and construction law since 2015. The newly qualified lawyer has been supporting the Real Estate & Construction team at DORDA since the beginning of April 2021.

Stefan Artner, Partner and Head of the Real Estate & Construction Team, comments: "I am very pleased to welcome Julia Haumer-Mörzinger, an experienced colleague, to our Practice Group. Her extensive advisory expertise includes, in particular, property development projects, real estate transactions, and the management of portfolio and construction disputes. Due to her technical expertise and interdisciplinary training, we are thus able to offer our clients a unique added value and enable DORDA's already well-known holistic advisory approach."
