Baucus, Brown and Schostak Selected by Crain’s Detroit Business as 2021 Notable Women in Law
Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce that Laura Baucus, Lisa Brown and Alexis Schostak were recognized on the Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women in Law list. Each is profiled in a special section of Crain’s Detroit Business published on April 19, 2021.
Baucus, Brown and Schostak, as well as the other 2021 honorees, were selected by a team of Crain’s Detroit Business editors based on their career accomplishments, track record of success in the field and mentorship of others. According to the publications, “In the board room and the court room, Crain’s Notable Women in Law are seeking justice, setting precedent and managing high-profile cases for their corporate clients. They are mentors, champions and beacons of their community.”
Baucus serves as Director of Dykema’s Automotive Industry Group, is the immediate past Leader of the firm’s Financial Services Litigation Practice, and a leader in the firm’s COVID-19 Task Force. She regularly counsels clients on force majeure and related contract performance options in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, real estate and financial services. Her litigation practice focuses on procurement and supply chain, warranty and cost recovery, financial services, contract termination, tooling recovery and Uniform Commercial Code issues. Her contract practice focuses on negotiating and drafting supply contracts and other commercial agreements for automotive and other manufacturing companies, including terms and conditions. Brown serves as Dykema’s firm’s Hiring Partner, Chair of the firm’s Recruiting Committee, and is a former Chair of its Women’s Business Initiative. Brown regularly handles high-stakes contract and business disputes with national implications as well as litigation involving purely private issues. Clients seek her legal representation on recall and warranty cost-recovery matters, automotive supplier disputes, product liability cases, premises actions, antitrust class action work, shareholder and other business litigation. Schostak serves as Assistant Leader of Dykema’s Corporate Finance Practice Group. In leading the firm’s Paycheck Protection Program response team, she has been at the forefront of providing critical advice to clients and non-clients with respect to PPP loan opportunities stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, her practice focuses on advising private equity clients on the complex, customized leveraged finance aspects of acquisition and refinancing transactions.
