Hanson Bridgett Recognized as a Top Bay Area Business with Notable Awards

May, 2021 - San Francisco, California

May 10, 2021 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett LLP, a preeminent California law firm providing creative, cutting-edge legal services throughout the state and nationwide, has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area for the seventh year. The firm ranked sixth in the large companies category, significantly up from last year's ranking of 24. The award was presented by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal at a virtual ceremony that took place May 6.

Additionally, Partner André Campbell has been named the recipient of the 2021 ELEVATE: Elevation Award presented by The Registry in partnership with Bay Area CREW Chapters. The award, also presented on May 6, recognizes a man who empowers, inspires, mentors, and sponsors women in the commercial real estate industry. Campbell, who is passionate about helping others build meaningful careers, currently mentors more than 30 individuals and upcoming attorneys and serves as the Chair of Hanson Bridgett’s internal Diversity & Inclusion Network. The firm was likewise honored at the event as the recipient of the ELEVATE Break the Ceiling: Corporate Leadership award. This prestigious award is given to a company that promotes equality in the workplace and has strong programs in place to advance women and culturally diverse employees within the commercial real estate industry. Hanson received the inaugural award for this category back in 2016.

"While we are proud to be recognized for our efforts within the firm and in the broader commercial real estate community to increase diversity and equity, we know there is much more work to do,” said Jennifer Martinez, the firm's Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. "To us, this ELEVATE leadership award doesn’t simply cap off all that we’ve done, but rather it encourages us to keep going and lead by example. We may have ‘broken the ceiling’ but we will continue to marshal our resources and brainpower to achieve real change. We see this award as a call to further action."

"I'm honored to accept the ELEVATE and ‘Best Places to Work’ awards on behalf of Hanson Bridgett. Having become the firm’s first-ever female managing partner this year, I can say with conviction that we’re a firm that walks the walk in our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion," said Kristina Lawson, Managing Partner, "It’s extremely rewarding to work with Jennifer, André, and so many others to increase the diversity of our workforce across California, and to see the positive impact our efforts are having. We strive to be a ‘best place to work’ that is also a leader in this area, and receiving these awards is a testament to that."

This year’s Best Places to Work list includes 25 companies in Hanson Bridgett's category (200-499 employees). They were named to list for rating the highest among all companies that submitted nominations, which required that employees weigh in on values such as solid compensation and benefits offerings, management practices, fun work environment, collaborative culture, and other defining characteristics. The confidential survey was administered online by employers and through a service provided by Quantum Workplace, San Francisco Business Times' research partner. For the ELEVATE Break the Ceiling: Corporate Leadership Award, submissions are reviewed and selected by a panel of independent judges.
