Hanson Bridgett Ranked Among the Top 200 Law Firms
May 25, 2021 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett LLP, a preeminent law firm for all of California, for the second time has ranked in The American Lawyer's 2021 list of Top 200 law firms.
Both present and past firm leaders, Managing Partner Kristina Lawson and former Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini have long had their sights set on expanding Hanson Bridgett's Northern California-rooted reputation to a more well-known one statewide. As a testament to the success of that strategy, the firm was ranked 188th by The American Lawyer out of the top 200 firms, moving up from the firm's inaugural 2020 ranking of 192nd.
In addition, the firm ranked 37th out of 225 on The American Lawyer's 2021 Diversity Scorecard. The Diversity Scorecard records the average number of full-time-equivalent minority attorneys and self-described multiracial attorneys at Am Law 200 and National Law Journal 250 law firms in the calendar year 2020. In January, the firm announced Jennifer Martinez as the first-ever Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer. Martinez, also a partner in the firm, is charged with spearheading diversity, equity, and inclusion programming; developing diversity hiring and retention goals and policies; and coordinating the firm’s efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal community and those in which its attorneys work and live.
"These rankings validate the strategic work that has been done to grow our footprint and elevate our firm's reputation statewide," Lawson said. "I am tremendously proud that the firm received these rankings and look forward to continuing our growth so we can aim even higher and provide more for our clients throughout California and nationally."
Throughout Giacomini's 18-year tenure as Hanson Bridgett's Managing Partner, the firm expanded from its original office location in San Francisco, to five offices throughout California. Now at the firm's helm, Lawson plans to build on that solid foundation and expand the firm's "all-California" strategy, which includes building out high-growth practice areas in the firm's five offices along the West Coast, with a particular focus on Los Angeles.
"As a firm, we believe there are a lot of synergies between our existing practices and the kind of work that's being done in Los Angeles," Lawson said. "Hanson Bridgett saw a year of strong growth in revenue and profitability in 2020, and we plan to use those resources to advance our all-California strategy in 2021."
