Shoosmiths’ pioneering client and colleague initiatives recognised with two Managing Partners’ Forum Award wins

June, 2021 - Milton Keynes, England

Leading UK law firm Shoosmiths scooped two awards at the prestigious Managing Partners’ Forum virtual awards ceremony yesterday evening – ‘Best Shared Learning with Clients’ (Client Theme) and ‘Best Operational Continuity’ (Business Theme).

Shoosmiths’ submission for ‘Best Shared Learning with Clients’ focused on the firm’s ‘Shared & Halved’ virtual support series for clients, which provided proactive advice and guidance during the pandemic in 2020.

The submission for ‘Best Operational Continuity’ centred around the firm’s ability to catalyse LegalTech, pioneer new communications strategies and implement new ways of working (the Working Principles), thus overcoming the challenges of 2020-21 with greater engagement, innovative actions, and smarter, faster, better ways of working for clients and colleagues.

Shoosmiths’ chairperson, Peter Duff and CEO, Simon Boss, were in attendance and were interviewed live on the virtual stage about the ‘Best Shared Learning’ and ‘Best Operational Continuity’ submissions, respectively.

On the ‘Best Shared Learning’ win, Peter said: “All businesses have had to face a common challenge in the last 18 months, so the firm acted quickly to mobilise a cross-firm team to launch our ‘Shared & Halved’ initiative supplying our clients with up-to-the-minute information through a range of accessible sources – such as virtual roundtables, podcasts and events. Judges were impressed that the firm didn’t just focus on Covid-related topics but ESG topics, which we as a firm are very passionate about and are still ongoing.

“We’re proud of having delivered such a successful initiative and providing a space for clients to also talk to each other. It really was a joy to receive this award which is for everybody at Shoosmiths who has pulled together to provide the client service we’re famous for, under testing times.

On the ‘Best Operational Continuity’ win, Simon commented: “These award wins really do reflect what an incredible team we have at Shoosmiths. We’re an innovative firm full of ideas, and during the pandemic these strengths were really catalysed. The firm further evolved throughout this challenging period, emerging with a smarter, faster and better way of doing things. It was heartening to see also that judges recognised the firm as being a bold pioneer when announcing our Working Principles as early as last July.

“Both of these awards are for our people and our clients who make Shoosmiths the truly unique, leading UK firm it is and we’d like to thank the Managing Partners’ Forum, judges and our referees for their time and recognition.”
