Shoosmiths continues impressive M&A record
Leading law firm Shoosmiths rose to second place for the volume of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions advised on throughout 2021, according to the latest Experian MarketIQ report results.
Numerous highlights during 2021 for Shoosmiths include its Manchester corporate team advising on over £1.5 billion worth of transactions and its London corporate team advising on over 60 transactions. The corporate team also saw significant people growth across its offices, with new joiners across all transaction teams: corporate, banking and finance, restructuring and advisory and tax.
The report highlights 2021 as one of the global M&A market’s best ever years, driven by sustained access to capital and consistently low interest rates – both fuelling a surge in deal making. This was a result of a particular busy quarter at the beginning of 2021, with businesses pushing forward with transactions that had previously been put on hold when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Stephen Porter, head of the Shoosmiths corporate division, said: “It is a testament to the hard work and expertise of our teams to be ranked second for M&A deal volume within the UK. We see activity levels only rising and confidence remains high as we head into 2022 – following a strong start to the year so far.”
