Heuking advises Hamburg-based DeathTech startup Emmora on its seven-figure seed funding round

March, 2022 - Germany

Philipp Börger and Ariane Neubauer of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Berlin office advised DeathTech startup Emmora on its seed funding round with a seven-figure investment volume.

Via the eponymous digital service platform, Emmora offers advice, services, and a large, competent network of local partners from the funeral industry. Considering itself a holistic companion for the topics of death, mourning, and life, Emmora is operating all across Germany.

In addition to existing investor and early-stage VC APX (Axel Springer Porsche GmbH & Co. KG), the investors in Emmora’s seed funding round include family offices and business angels such as Dr. Mathias Krahl, Dr. Ewald Walgenbach, Marc Sasserath, Kerstin Schiefelbein, and Thomas Dadashi.

Emmora’s co-founders Evgeniya Polo and Victoria Dietrich are pursuing their “vision to de-taboo death through a compassionate digital service offering.”

Emmora will use the investment to expand its existing product and service portfolio to contribute to digitalizing the largely analog market for funerals, retirement planning, and mourning.
