Shepherd and Wedderburn provides pro bono support to establish Sportschallenge Trust

April, 2022 - Scotland

Shepherd and Wedderburn is delighted to have worked on a pro bono basis to establish the newly formed Sportschallenge Trust, and to support Sportschallenge, the popular sports-themed fundraiser, as it returns to Aberdeen.

The Sportschallenge event hosts businesses from across the north-east of Scotland as they battle it out in a Question of Sport-style quiz. Securing charitable status allows Sportschallenge Trust to operate as a stand-alone charity and to raise further funds outwith the event itself.

Gillian Campbell, Partner in Shepherd and Wedderburn’s private wealth and tax team and now a trustee of the charity, worked on a pro bono basis to establish the trust and help it obtain charitable status.

Gillian, who is Head of Private Wealth and Tax and Charities teams in the north of Scotland, said: “Sportschallenge is a terrific fundraising event that is hotly anticipated by businesses across northern Scotland and does a fantastic job of supporting local charities. Establishing the Sportschallenge Trust seemed the logical next step to help further this excellent work. I’m delighted to have played a part and will continue to support the trust alongside my fellow trustees.”

Sportschallenge is sponsored by investment bank Piper Sandler, with support from CNR International. Previous Sportschallenge events have raised more than £600,000 for local causes and we are looking forward to the next fundraiser at P&J Live in September.
