Hanson Bridgett Managing Partner Reappointed to California Medical Board
June 13, 2022 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett LLP, an AmLaw 200 law firm serving all of California and beyond, is pleased to announce that Managing Partner, Kristina Lawson has been reappointed to the Medical Board of California (Board) by Governor Gavin Newsom.
The mission of the Board is to protect health care consumers through the proper licensing and regulation of physicians and surgeons and certain allied health care professionals and through the vigorous, objective enforcement of the Medical Practice Act, and to promote access to quality medical care through the Board's licensing and regulatory functions.
Lawson was initially appointed to the Board in 2015 by Governor Jerry Brown. As the current President of the Board, she also takes on additional legislative advocacy responsibilities and serves as the Board's public face.
"I was first appointed to the Board shortly after my father's sudden passing. My father was a physician and it is an honor to serve on the Board and help ensure the integrity of the profession he loved," Lawson shared. "In light of the challenges all Californians have faced in recent years, it is vitally important to further the Board's mission to protect California's health care consumers and ensure evidence-based information regarding physicians and health care is accessible to all. I am grateful and humbled to be trusted with that responsibility."
In April, Lawson received an Award of Merit from the Federation of State Medical Boards at their Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon in New Orleans. Lawson was chosen for the award in recognition of her contributions that have positively impacted and strengthened the profession of medical licensure and discipline and helped enhance public protection.
