Clint O’Connell Speaks at EuroCham E-Commerce Workshop

On 20 June 2022, Clint O’Connell (Partner, Cambodia Deputy Managing Director & Head of the Cambodia Tax Practice) was featured as panellist on e-commerce event organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia with a special join by H.E. Dr. Eng Ratana, Director of the Large Taxpayer Department at the General Department of Taxation and Huy Bunchay, the Head of Business Registration at the Ministry of Commerce.
Clint was joined by tax experts, industry analysts and government officials on a panel to discuss some of the complex regulations surrounding the emerging e-commerce sector.
“Due to Covid, e-commerce transactions are growing a lot. Everyone here, including myself, is using e-commerce, especially to order goods and services, by phone, and online,” said Huy Bunchay, the Head of Business Registration at the Ministry of Commerce, as quoted by EuroCham.
The hybrid-access workshop, “E-Commerce in Cambodia: Legal Compliance and Tax,” was held on 20 June 2022 at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh and was also available online. The event was timely: The deadline for non-resident companies start to register with the Ministry of Commerce and the General Department of Taxation is 1 July 2022.
