Han Kun honored with the Morgan Stanley 2021 Outside Counsel Diversity Award
Today, Han Kun Law Offices is pleased to announce that the firm has been officially named as a winner of Morgan Stanley's 2021 Asia Outside Counsel Diversity Award. Han Kun is among the four winners consisting of two international firms and two local firms which have been selected out of 37 runners for this Award. The award honors the firm for its exceptional efforts in 2021 to create a culture of equality in the workplace and community.
The Asia Outside Counsel Diversity Awards are designed to recognize Morgan Stanley's regional legal service providers for their excellence in diversity and inclusion and were conducted through an in-depth survey and interview process managed by its Asia Pacific Legal & Compliance Division.
Han Kun's resolve to cultivate an inclusive, diverse, and equal workplace was highly commended over the last 12 months. The firm is dedicated to helping less privileged areas of China obtain the same quality of legal training that coastal cities enjoy through the firm's Training Program for Lawyers from Western China, a five-year project aimed at addressing the imbalance of legal resources between Western and Eastern China. Inside Han Kun's offices, the firm has also strengthened its internal interest-free loan program in the past year, aiming to support its employees by providing interest-free student loans and scholarships for their legal studies, ensuring that all lawyers, regardless of socio-economic background, may have an equal opportunity to obtain further education. Moreover, Han Kun places strong emphasis on gender equality. The firm has actively expanded opportunities for women's development (path to partnership, etc.); explored a flexible and supportive working environment; invited successful women leaders as role models to organize activities, roundtables, and online discussions; and implemented a variety of maternity protection policies.
"Diversity and inclusion are deeply rooted in the firm's culture, and we believe this culture broadens our access to the best talents. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and will continue to promote diversity and inclusion in China's legal industry." said Ms. Yin Ge "The recognition by Morgan Stanley means a lot to us." Yin not only leads the firm's cross-border asset management business, but also sits on the board of Teach for China (one of the most influential charity organizations to promote education in rural areas in China). She is also the co-founder of HerValue, a mutual assistance platform that advances women's representation and development in the broader finance industry and asset management industry.
