DFDL Sponsors AmCham ‘Trusts and Taxes’ Event

The DFDL team is pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring and participating in the upcoming Trust and Taxes event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (“AmCham”). This in-person event will be held at The Atom, a co-working hub on the sixth floor of Vattanac Tower in Phnom Penh, on 30 August 2022 from 8:30 am to 12 pm.
H.E. Sok Dara, Director-General of the Trust Regulator of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will deliver a keynote address outlining the role of trusts in Cambodia and how they can be used to help investors manage their assets. Cambodia passed a Trust Law by Royal Decree in 2019. There will also be a special joint presentation from DFDL experts – Vansok Khem (Partner and Deputy Head of Corporate and Commercial Practice Group, DFDL) and Jonathan Blaine (Co-Head of Regional Compliance and Investigations Practice, and DFDL Tax Director), followed by a panel discussion moderated by Clint O’Connell (DFDL Partner and Chairman of AmCham Tax Committee). The DFDL experts will discuss the following legal and tax topics:
- An overview of Cambodia’s Trust Law
- How to create a valid trust
- Regional trends with on the taxation of trusts
- How trusts are currently taxed in Cambodia
- Potential developments regarding the taxation of trusts
