Shoosmiths' excellence recognised in legal directories rankings

October, 2022 - Milton Keynes, England

Law firm Shoosmiths has been recognised as a leading firm in rankings released by directories, Chambers and Partners, and The Legal 500.

Both Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 are widely perceived by the legal sector as leading authorities on law firm benchmarking in practice areas by region or territory.

The launch of the 2023 UK Guide from Chambers and Partners this week saw Shoosmiths ranked in the top six firms with the most Chambers rankings with a total of 69. The firm gained 16 Band 1 rankings, 11 new rankings and 11 promotions within the tables. Promotions in rankings included Shoosmiths’ Litigation and Corporate teams in three and four regions, respectively. In addition, 154 Shoosmiths lawyers have gained an individual ranking, 23 partners are ranked band 1 and 23 associates ranked as Associates to Watch.

The Legal 500, released last month, ranked Shoosmiths in a total of 132 practice areas, of which 30 were Tier 1 rankings. The firm was promoted in 12 practice areas and 10 practice areas broke into the tables with a new ranking. The Legal 500 recently released research data, where Shoosmiths topped the table as the firm with the most UK-wide referee responses, and also the firm with the most referee responses in practice areas outside London.

David Jackson, CEO, said: “We are thrilled to have received such excellent results in both directories. Every single ranking is down to our people and their commitment to deliver excellence for our clients.

“The rankings are further evidence of our people delivering superb technical legal expertise, creative commercial solutions, and the very highest standards of client service.

“We are extremely grateful to the very significant number of our amazing clients who took the time to recognise the support they receive from Shoosmiths. That recognition motivates us to continually go the extra mile for our clients”

The firm also received a special mention in a piece by Al Marsh, Chambers’ UK research director, today. He comments: “There are countless ways we could slice the data. We could look at the law firms that have risen the most up the rankings in the last few years and we would discover some of the most impressive performances have been put in by Shoosmiths and Osborne Clarke, as well as a whole host of US-headquartered firms like Kirkland, Debevoise, Goodwin and White & Case.

These rankings come shortly after Shoosmiths recently being crowned as Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2022, and being recognised as one of Europe’s most innovative law firms in the Financial Times’ Innovative Lawyers Index.
