Heuking advises Excelerate Energy on FSRU Charter Agreement
A team led by Dr. Johan-Michel Menke and Dr. Kai Bandilla, partners in Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek's Hamburg office, in cooperation with PwC, provided legal advice to Excelerate Energy, Inc. (NYSE: EE) (“Excelerate”) on the signing of a charter agreement with the German government for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU). The energy law advice was provided by Dr. Tobias Woltering, partner at the Düsseldorf office of Heuking. Excelerate is changing the way the world accesses cleaner forms of energy by providing integrated services along the LNG value chain. The Company offers a full range of flexible regasification services from FSRUs to infrastructure development to LNG supply.
The agreement, signed on October 25, 2022, is designed to provide stability to the German energy market at a time when traditional energy sources have proven inflexible and unreliable. Under the agreement, The FSRU Excelsior is expected to provide regasification services at Germany’s planned LNG import terminal which is being developed at the port of Wilhelmshaven by Tree Energy Solutions, E.ON, and ENGIE.”
Prior to this, Heuking had already advised Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG on the award procedure for the LNG terminal in Wilhelmshafen and another in Stade.
