Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advises shareholders of Buchmann Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung on company sale

M&A specialists Dr. Andreas Lenz (Cologne) and Dr. Rainer Herschlein (Stuttgart) headed a team that advised the shareholders of folding carton producer Buchmann Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (Buchmann) on selling the company to WEIG group.
As an owner-managed firm for about 120 years, Buchmann develops and produces folding cartons with over 330 employees at its Annweiler plant. In 2022, Buchmann generated sales of around EUR 190 million. A sales deal was inked with WEIG group in early March.
WEIG is also an owner-managed group. Its activities include packaging, cartonboard, and recycling. WEIG group has operations in Germany and South America and generates sales of about EUR 800 million per year with about 1,500 employees.
The shares were sold to Buchmann as part of a pre-planned sales process.
Closing of the purchase agreement is still subject to antitrust approval.
