Carey Olsen trio recognised amongst Asian Legal Business' top offshore lawyers
The list identifies the most distinguished offshore practitioners with the best reputations in the Asian market. Lawyers are selected based on client feedback and praise, from more than 200 nominations, for their high-quality service and support. James, Helen and Kate feature alongside just 12 other practitioners.
James is head of Carey Olsen's litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Asia and has been recognised on the ALB list since 2021. A specialist in complex and high value shareholder litigation, asset recovery, cross-border enforcement and insolvency, James advises on Cayman, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Bermuda law and is the only Cayman and BVI admitted litigation partner in Singapore. James has been praised in client feedback for his "extensive experience" and for leading a "top class team" that "knows the local market well."
Helen joined Carey Olsen partnership in January this year and has been recognised for the first time in the Offshore Client Choice List. Helen specialises in commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud and investigatory cases and insolvency and restructuring matters. In the ALB commentary she has been praised for being "extremely personable, super responsive and hard working" and for her "excellent legal knowledge and commercial sense."
Kate is counsel in Carey Olsen’s litigation, restructuring and insolvency practice and has also been featured for the first time in the Offshore Client Choice List. Kate has extensive experience advising clients across a broad spectrum of litigation and arbitration matters, with particular emphasis on commercial and shareholders’ disputes, trust and estate disputes, and insolvency and restructuring matters. She has been described as "sharp", "commercially savvy" and "highly responsive, with rock solid dependability and always ready to go the extra mile".
This news follows Carey Olsen's recent recognition in China Business Law Journal's prestigious 'Deals of the Year' list for 2022 where the firm advised on six of the winning deals, as well as the Singapore office's Tier 1 ranking in The Legal 500 Asia for the second consecutive year.
