Mr. Bender works with debtors, banks, secured creditors, indenture trustees and purchasers of distressed assets in complex Chapter 11 and Chapter 9 bankruptcy cases. He also represents clients in state and federal court receivership proceedings and in out-of-court workouts, reorganizations, restructurings and liquidations. He has more than 20 years of experience working with clients in a variety of industries including health care, construction, energy, telecommunications, utilities, wholesale, manufacturing, commercial real estate, oil and gas and mining. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and received the Service to Veterans Award from the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2019.

Mr. Norton focuses his practice in business bankruptcy, dealing in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, creditors’ rights and insolvency. He has more than 30 years of experience in bankruptcy and insolvency law with a focus on Chapter 11 cases, representing debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, committees and trustees. He is the managing editor of Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice 3d, a premier 13-volume treatise on bankruptcy law published by Thomson Reuters. Mr. Norton is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy Law and is a leader in the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the Business Section of the American Bar Association. He is also a founder and board member of the Tennessee Turnaround Management Association.
