Spilman Associate Deasy Selected for ACBA Bar Leadership Initiative
Pittsburgh — Spilman Thomas & Battle (Spilman) announced that associate Jonathan A. Deasy recently was selected to participate in the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Bar Leadership Initiative (BLI). Deasy holds one of only 15 spots in the program.
The BLI was developed out of an acknowledged need for additional leadership training for the young lawyers of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA). Its goal is to aid and encourage young lawyers in developing their professional and community leadership skills, and to position themselves to assume a leadership position within the ACBA.
Deasy’s primary area of practice at Spilman is litigation, with particular emphasis on complex commercial and construction litigation.
Recently, Deasy served as second-chair trial attorney and obtained a jury verdict following a lengthy, high-stakes federal trademark and breach of contract action on behalf of a national skill-game developer. He also recently served as second-chair trial attorney in a five-day AAA hearing resulting in a multi-million-dollar verdict, plus attorneys’ fees, on behalf of a local contractor involved in a commercial pipeline construction dispute.
Deasy is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and his law degree from Duquesne University.
